Ingredients
1 1/2cupswhole milk
1/2cupwater
1/2tspDiamond Crystal kosher salt
1 1/4cupsold-fashioned rolled oats
1 1/4cupssweet cherriespitted and halved
3tbspdark brown sugarpacked
1tspground cinnamon
1/2tspground cardamom
1/4tspground ginger
1/8tspfreshly grated nutmeg
1tspvanilla extract
Toasted sliced almondsfor topping
Unsalted butteroptional, for serving
Method
Bring milk, water and salt to simmer in medium saucepan over medium-high heat.
Add oats and cherries, reduce heat to low.
Stir constantly for first minute, then frequently for 7-9 minutes until thickened.
Remove from heat when slightly loose, stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg and vanilla.
Adjust sweetness if needed.
Serve hot topped with toasted almonds and optional butter.
